We are very pleased that Tesco’s has showcased our work in their Accrington store. It was a collaborative effort between our group, Tesco’s, and a local school.
Children coloured in the pictures around the pop-art picture. The participants in our activity group each coloured in one section of the overall picture. They had no idea what the image represented. In this way, they could pick any colour they liked instead of having to conform their colour choices to fit a particular image.
The result is this fantastic pop art piece. The monthly sessions provide therapeutic activities for people living with dementia, offering their carers a short break. Those caring for people with dementia are welcome to join in the sessions. Instead of art therapy, this is an arts-health based practice. Arts health is not a therapy but a series of therapeutic activities that stimulate calmness and relaxation and create meaningful connections and conversations.
The sessions are held at the Clitheroe Library on the first monday of every month from 2pm to 4pm. The sessions are completely free of charge, and refreshments are provided.
